Buddhist sculpture began production and development of BOPE in 2009, Mr. Zhang Guangqiang, general manager of BOPE project development as the person in charge has been nine years. The following is the processing and application of BOPE to share with you.

Since 2009, a total of 300 ~ 400 tons of BOPE films have been produced, most of them are used in market development, and some of them have been applied and sold. Originally developed with BOPP production lines, it was initially tested on the smallest 4-meter BOPP production line and on the 6.5-meter medium-sized production line. Later, a dedicated BOPE production line was developed.

Although BOPE has been developed for nearly a decade, there is still no large-scale industrialization in the market. It is mainly controlled by raw materials, processing and downstream applications.

Two, the shortcomings of BOPE thin films

2-1. The temperature of heat seal is high, and the degree of crystallinity increases after biaxial stretching.

2-2, BOPE film after thinning the sealing edge is easy to break, so used in gravity packaging these aspects are problematic, but can be used in the middle.

Successful case for intermediate layer development: surface layer 12um PET, middle layer BOPE 25um, inner layer is blown or cast PE film 50um, used in washing powder bag development success. The design structure is designed to replace nylon structure. But because the unit price of nylon has been declining, and it is now within 30,000 yuan, there is no cost advantage, so the project can only be suspended.

According to the above shortcomings, BOPE still has a big problem of shrinkage, because after biaxial stretching, production is low-temperature stretching, if it is high-temperature heat seal, there will be a relatively large shrinkage, summed up over the years, in the application:

2-2-1, should use melt seal, there are still many problems in the sealing.

2-2-2, recommended monolayer use is better;

2-2-3, that is, if it is used for PET or nylon compound. Currently used in lightweight packaging (small packaging) without heavy packages can also be used successfully, but after stretching, the heat sealing temperature is relatively high, so the downstream bagging technology and equipment requirements are relatively high.

2-3. From the point of view of environmental protection, the structure of BOPE / PE has been studied successfully before, and some products have been sold. The printing performance of BOPE is superior to that of non-biaxial film, but the surface layer of BOPE and the inner layer of PE should have a thermal sealing gradient to ensure that the bag is more beautiful.

After so many years of development, including Japan, Buddhist sculpture, and other peers, BOPE has not been able to achieve a large-scale production and sales for so many years. Among them, there are many problems, BOPE actually see so many advantages, in fact, is a very good material, the need for raw materials, film processing plants and downstream applications to work together to better promote.

Three, the reasons for restricting industrialization.

The biggest bottleneck that restricts industrialization is the cost. Many years of experience, the first is raw materials, can now provide raw materials can be produced in Japan Mitsui, Dow, Sinopec.

3-1, high cost of raw materials

At present, the price of these three materials is higher than that of ordinary metallocene.

3-2. The cost of film processing is also high.

(At present, there is not a large application direction, there is no large amount of consumption, so all use small production lines to produce, processing costs are higher, and the recovery of scrap also requires higher, because PE is easier to cross-link, secondary melting inside the crystalline point is more difficult to control, if there are more crystalline points, BOPE because more transparent, products. The appearance is better, and the dots will be more obvious.

3-3, investigate the market and see why the cost is high.

Investigation market needs to find a relatively large demand, cut into the development to produce; a relatively large volume after calculation, if about 25,000 to 30,000 tons of production line to produce: BOPE density is about 0.93, relative to BOPP density is relatively heavy, the same production line, the same investment and BOPP ratio, the production capacity will be higher than BOPP. So it seems that the comprehensive processing fee is not much higher than the BOPP production line. The main points are:

The cost of 3-3-1 and scrap recycling is slightly higher.

3-3-2, the beginning of mass production when the technology is not yet mature, the rate of good products will be low, the cost is relatively high;

3-3-3, raw material prices are relatively high, the waste of corresponding scrap will result in higher cost.

3-3-4, energy consumption: in the stretching process, because the temperature is relatively low, so it should be lower than BOPP cost, but in the extrusion system may be higher than BOPP.

3-4, market price problem

If the price of BOPE film products can be maintained at about 15,000 yuan / ton, then the market will probably be larger. At the time of promotion, Buddhist sculptures under 17,000 yuan / ton were also sold a lot, but according to the positioning at that time, the market positioning of more than 20,000 prices is actually more difficult to sell. But to achieve a price of about 15,000 yuan / ton, raw material manufacturers need to cooperate, need a large application demand, and it is best to use a large production line to produce. If the product promotion wants to be successful, it is suggested that the upstream and downstream, the entire industry together to discuss how to launch this product.
3-5. Comparative PA analysis

After the price of PA declined, PET / BOPE and PA / PE were compared and analyzed; this structure is mainly to take advantage of the excellent impact resistance and puncture resistance of BOPE, which can be compared with BOPA. The successful case is PET / BOPE / PE film blowing (casting), which is advantageous when the price of PA is high, but now there is no advantage after the price of PA drops.

3-6, BOPE lightweight trend

In terms of lightweight, PET / BOPE is made by thinning. In theory, BOPE can be replaced by 40% thinning or even half thinning of the original blowing film and casting PE. However, the downstream bag processing equipment requirements are relatively high, if the raw materials, low-temperature heat seals these solutions are not good, the stability of this area is still a bit of a problem.

In this regard, manufacturers who continue to improve raw materials and film production should work together to improve the BOPE heat sealing temperature and the stability of the heat sealing. For example, like BOPP thermal sealing film, the middle layer is homopolymer, the surface thermal sealing layer is copolymerization, which will sacrifice a bit of BOPE thermal sealing strength performance, but in this regard lightweight packaging is certainly no problem, BOPE production prices can reach 15,000 to 16,000 yuan / ton of the sale price, then 40% - 50% reduction will be very competitive Products.
